Indo China conflict 2020

In eastern Ladakh, at Galwan India lost 20 of its gallant soldiers led by Col. Santosh Babu. This was waiting to happen.Since last one decade China has been trying to ensure that India does not grow the way it is growing. For if India does grow, it is bound to challenge China's hegemony in Asia.
China has deployed following stratagems to checkmate India
1. China has consistently used its veto to deny India her membership in UN Security council
2.China has ensured that India is denied membership in Nuclear Supplier Group
3.China has turned Pakistan in to a nuclear power state.
4.China has consistently run trade surplus with India of about USD 60 billions since 2014.
5.China has weaned away Nepal from India through its Maoist proxies in Kathmandu
6.With the money that China has earned out of its exports to India, China has created an eco system within India that is ready to take up Chinese cause when needed.

Time has come for Indians and Indian political leadership to stand up to these challenges.
1.India must maintain minimum deterrent force across entire LAC.This force must be empowered to respond promptly and effectively to any misadventure from across LAC.Counter offensive at Galwan that killed at least 35 Chinese should be the norm as and when such skirmish takes place.
2.India must prepare time bound plans to bring down Chinese imports to near zero before 2025.
3.India must forge an alliance with all those countries who are being bullied by China. They include Mongolia,Taiwan, Japan, South Korea,Indonesia,Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and Singapore.
4.This alliance must seek support from democracies of the world to check Chinese aggressiveness
5.USA,EU,Japan, S Korea etc are wanting to move their businesses  out of China to elsewhere.India must encourage these businesses to come to India. This should be as part of India's strategy to become a strong economic power to counter China.
6.All citizens of India must take a vow never ever to use anything that is made in China.

Congress going mad on Rafael

Today Congress party took politics to a new low.Its President Mr Rahul Gandhi has called PM Narendra Modi a spy. This is all because Modi and his govt showed urgency in acquisition of good quality fighter aircrafts for IAF which hasn't acquired anything in last 10 years. This delay is attributed to indecisiveness of  UPA I & II.For ten long years they set on files.Modi govt's fault is its speed.India being the largest importers of arms in the world, it is a free for all for all kinds of lobbies and lobbyists. If vendor A is chosen by a govt after due diligence, venders B to Z are bound to raise storms through their contacts. That is what seems to be happening in Rafael deal. Those who could not get the contract are trying to sabotage a deal that was done between two governments.Congress party and Rahul Gandhi are doing disservice to the nation and to our armed forces by falling prey to these lobbyists knowingly or otherwise.

Lies ,damned lies and statistics

Stanford University researchers conducted study about the "laziness" of people from various countries. They used data collected by the smartphones. Most of the smartphones are equipped with step counters which are installed in these sets. Researchers collected data from 700,000 smart phones owned  by people in 46 countries.

We do not know how many smartphones owned by Indians were counted by these researchers.

About 30% or less of Indians own smartphones. At present smartphones are owned by upper middle class and rich people. It is incorrect to conclude about entire Indian population based on data from this small segment.People from poorer sections, lower middle classes and house wives do walk miles every day to do a myriad chores. These data is "beyond" the rich of Stanford researchers.

Our farmers, farm labourers, shop floor people, shop assistants, people working in small businesses number more than 40 crores. And all of them do lot of walking- every day.

It is wrong on the part of our main stream media and social media to pick up such "phoney" research and condemn all of us as the laziest people in the world.

Attack by terrorists on Amarnath Pilgrims

Country has witnessed one more attack on unarmed, innocent pilgrims to Amarnath.8 pilgrims are killed.7 of them are women.14 more are injured. All those who are dead or injured are from south Gujarat.
This marks one more change in the strategy of the terrorists. After Modi govt assumed office in May 2014, all terror attacks were directed at security forces [Pathankot,Uri...].Now again they are back to killing unarmed civilians.Does this mean that their strength is depleted and hence can't attack army camps? Or do they expect people to "react" to such violence and start one more communal conflagration? Terrorists involved appear to be from across the border. This will mean they are being "directed" to indulge in acts which have "consequences".Both China and Pakistan could be interested in creating a communal flashpoint in India.

GST and its critics

July 1st 2017 was a historic day for independent India. On this day the country has been transformed into a unified economic unit with launch of GST - Goods and Services Tax - that is applicable across the country. This GST will subsume scores of local taxes and cesses which were introduced over a period of time.

This historic reform measure is being opposed by two sets of people
[1] Those who are opposed to Modi,BJP and the NDA government
[2] Those who now find that they can't avoid tax.

26/11/2013

Five years ago, on this day, Mumbai came under an unprecedented terrorist attack. It was an audacious act of war by Pakistan.Fortunately ,one terrorist [ Kasab] was caught alive by the police and the whole conspiracy is now known to the whole world.Fine.
What have we done as a nation since then? How many more terror attacks have taken place since then? Will we be attacked like this in future? Governments of the day have no answers for these simple questions by the citizens. As i have written in my previous blogs, the nation states were formed with the idea of providing security to the inhabitants of that state.
In the mean time, Pakistan has changed its strategy of this proxy war.It is now encouraging local Muslim youths to organise themselves as local cells. These cells remain dormant but can be activated at very short notice. This strategy absolves Pakistan of any involvement and thus any retaliation by India.By 2014, India may have a new government and Kabul may be left to fend for itself , post draw down of foreign troops. There is already a new government in Islamabad.USA may not be as keen to intervene in this part of the world in near future.India and her so called fight against terrorism will have to take all these aspects in to considerations.

Resource Mobilisation for the new Indian government

TOI has reported a news item today where a UP state Engineer has been caught who had amassed more than 260 crore of wealth between 2002 to 2007 in UP.
Central Government, various State governments,Qasi government bodies and PSUs employ more than 1.2 crore employees. We can safely presume that at least 10% of them are highly corrupt and have managed to amass more than 10 crore each. That will give us the figure of of 120 Lakh crores! [ 12 lakh employees having > 10 crore hush money].Govt agencies like CBI or Anti Corruption Bureau or ED should focus on their own colleagues and locate these 12 lakh crooks.Once done they should be asked to cough up and get out! "Deals" can be stuck to shell out at least half of the booty.[ no use filing legal cases that can go on and on for decades.Time is for the "Instant deals"]That could still be 60 Lakh crores.Compare this with central govt yearly budget of Rs 12 Lakh crores and we have the idea of resources that we can mobilise without much a do.
Added bonus will be that the govts will be able to get rid of 12 lakh crooks and replace them with better, younger, more honest and more deserving persons.

NaMo as PM

13th September was the date on which NaMo has been declared as PM candidate by BJP with only LKA dissenting.Today is 16th September and LKA while addressing a rally at Chhatisgadh along with Dr Raman Singh [ CM of Chhatisgadh[ has praised NaMo for the first time in last few weeks.Others who were opposed to NaMo's nomination [ M M Joshi,Sushma Swaraj,Ananth Kumar] seem to have fallen in line, not so much to respect party diktat, but to respect opinion of overwhelming numbers of rank and file and party supporters.
With this now BJP has the leader and an excellent national team comprising of Rajnath Singh,Arun Jaitely,Sushma Swaraj,Nitin Gadkari,Naidu,Ananth Kumar,Naqvi,Shah Navaz Hussein,Prasad,Sinha,Joshi and now LKA.. so many. Not only that but BJP also has very robust teams in the states where it is strong challenger to Congress.Compare this with what Congress has got.MMS? PC? Antony?Anand Sharma? Manish Tiwari? Ahmed Patel? Many of them may not be able to contest or win elections. That leaves the family led by SoniaG,RahulG & PriyankaG.Young dynasts like Scindia,Pilot,Devda,Prasada,Singh may not be much of election mobilisers. So how does Congress put in place teams, strategies, agenda? How does it counter huge anti incumbency? humongous scams?
As 2014 apporaches,it may become a walk over for BJP/NDA.

Food Security Bill & BJP

UPA II government & Congress party are struggling to pass this bill anyhow. This is Congress party's idea of "Buying" votes of the poor without worrying about serious, long term consequences on country's finances.BJP as a responsible Right -Of  Center Hindu party should have opposed this bill on following grounds.

1. Food Security Bill [FSB] seeks to provide highly subsidised food grains to 67% of the population, while number of actual poor has fallen to 20% of the population

2.Most of the state governments have failed to deliver benefits of subsidised food grains through existing Public Distribution System [ PDS] - because the sytem is inefficient, wasteful and highly corrupt.40% of subsidised food grains and kerosene are siphoned off in the black market

3.If Governments can't operate this existing PDS for the poor, how will it operate this new FSB for 67% of the people. It will be a financial disaster.

4.Since FSB expects states to distribute highly subsidised food grains to farmers, states may not be able to give remunerative prices to farmers for such food grains. That will force farmers to switch to more remunerative cash crops, thus creating long term shortages of food grains for 125 crore people.

On all these counts FSB is a disaster and hence should have been opposed by BJP in the national interest.

Disasters and the department called Central Disaster Management Authority

We are experiencing an unprecedented disaster in Uttarakhand since last one week. Since last seven years or so, central government has set up this department called CENTRAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY [CDMA] directly under the Prime Minister - We don't know what it is doing at the grounds level in Uttarakhand. What we read and see on TV is the involvement of following bodies

1.ITBP
2.Army
3.Air Force
4.State Governments
5.Media
6.NGO's

After one week, reports claim that 50,000 pilgrims are still stranded around four pilgrim  centers [ Yamunotri,Gangotri,Kedarnath and Badrinath] and surrounding areas. Administration  does not have correct casualty figures, estimates of time when all these people will be evacuated to safety, issues related to food ,water and medicines for them etc, when the infrastructure [ roads, telecommunication...] will be restored and so on - Where is this Disaster Management Authority in the entire mayhem?

A country as vast as ours is prone to all kinds of disasters. While it is good to have a centralized agency like this disaster management cell, it should have nation wide presence through networks of NGO's,concerned government departments, army cantonments, corporate bodies, and PSUs and suppliers of critical items equipment for each type of disaster.
Such a cell should be small by nature but it should have on its list all agencies who can mobilize resources and manpower. Nothing wrong for example  in Punjab to have on its list SGPC's network of Gurudwaras or list of RSS functionaries who can quickly mobilise its volunteers in any part of the country at very short notice. How about keeping all large temple complexes, Mosques, Churches, Gurudwaras etc on call?
Now the governments have money but does not have the right type of manpower to reach out to the affected. It is time to develop a model involving people and people's organisations.

Since the writing of this blog, it has come to light that this great CDMA was formed in 2006 but has never held any meeting since then. After this tragedy ,they could hold their meeting yesterday [ 25th June] as reported in media.

Ms Aruna Roy and her ilk

It has been a while! In fact more than a year.I am quite worked up by the article by Ms Aruna Roy [ till other day , member NAC ] in TOI today[ 18.6.13]

She has referred to Narendra Modi's comments on Maoists or at least their sympathizers entrenched in UPA II government. This has been the reason enough for Ms Roy to write and publish this article in TOI.She laments this process of "demonizing" of Maoists and their sympathizers. This is truly surprising ,coming from a Left Liberal, a tribe, which has been busy demonizing Modi all these years. This means that Left Liberals are free to be intolerant of those who are not Left Liberals but others are not free to criticize them. If they do, they become demonizers.

Defending the motherland

Since the controversy of his Date of Birth, Gen V K singh is in the news for all wrong reasons. Now we have him telling us that we are really not prepared for a war! This is inspite of plans to spend more than $100 billions in next 15 years on defence and having the second largest army in the world. This is also inspite of India having emerged as the largest importers of arms in the world.
It appears that our defence establishments headed by politicians and babus have not been doing their jobs properly since the bad old days of Bofors. What is needed is speed, clarity and transperancy in matters related to nation's defences. All three are missing.A K Antony, we are told is the most honest Congressman. This is what we have got from him.Dr Manmohan Singh too is honest. And this is what we have.Following needs to be done
1.Develop strategic plans for years 2020,2030 & 2050
2.Draw the lists of equipment needed and the man power needed
3. Appoint an ongoing high power committee comprising of retired senior officers from the armed forces, retired senior bureaucrats, senior political leaders from all parties, defence experts, and members of civil society. This high powered committee, with ample budgets should be mandated to execute these strategies. Decisions related to country's defence should be taken out of the purview of time serving politicians as well as corrupt and incompetent babus.
4.Jail terms for middlemen found bribing any one in the said committee.
5. This high power committee should be appointed by the President,Prime Minister,Leaders of the opposition in LS & RS, Speaker of the Lok sabha, Vice president and the CJC of India. No elections here!

Way forward for BJP

Dusk is settling on the results of state elections from 5 states that went to polls in Feb-2012.
While Congress is a major looser, BJP hasn't gained much traction, except in Goa.Back of the envelope calculations tell us that BJP would win maximum of 25 Loksabha seats, from these states,if elections were held today. This is against more than 100 seats that these states have got.How can BJP improve its tally in these and other states? BJP needs to do following during 2012 to help it cross 200 + mark in 2014 Loksabha elections.
1.Win Gujarat with 140+ seats.Ensure that the party's performance in MP,Rajasthan,Maharashtra state elections improves in the respective assembly elections.
2. Elect Mr Narendra Modi as the party president in December 2012.
3. Declare that BJP is committed to cultural nationalism and the principles of minimal governance.Declare that BJP is committed to creating and maintaining world class infrastructure for the entire country.Declare that BJP does not believe in " buying" electoral support from any section[s] of Indian society based on any " contract" of quota, or jobs or money or things.Declare that all citizens are equal and have equal rights provided by the constitution.A govt or a political party DOES NOT HAVE TO PROMISE AND GIVE ANYTHING EXTRA TO ANY SECTION OF INDIAN SOCIETY OTHER THAN WHAT IS ENSHRINED IN THE CONSTITUTION.
4.Make conscious efforts to differentiate from Congress ,Socialists and [above all!] Communists in all spheres of public life and politics.
5.Announce concrete plans for education, training, vocational training, training in sports & atheletics, as well as R & D related initiatives for 65 crores of Indians who are below 35 years of age. That is mega HR plans for next three decades
6.Announce concrete plans for wide ranging reforms in Economy,Administration,Judiciary,Police,Election Commission, labour laws with the aim of bringing transperancy and effciencies in the processes of Governance.
7.Announce a new Foreign policy in line with India's emergence as super power and changed geo political realities in Asia and in the world.
8.Announce a new team of leaders who will lead the party.Announce that all leaders above 75 years of age will not contest any elections.Such leaders will only provide guidance and advice to the younger leadership.
9.Appoint better media advisers
10.Announce that Mr Narendra Modi is BJP's PM candidate.Allies within NDA [ or without] who are opposed to this, may join other alliances of their choice.
If BJP continues to follow its existing strategy, it will continue to get the results what it is getting.BJP needs to be given a new AVATAR by a new leadership.

Vote bank politics at its worst

Congress party is playing with fire in UP elections by crossing all limits to appease muslim voters in UP.First,Rahul Gandhi visited Deoband to seek the blessings of maulanas there, then it promised job quotas to muslims, then at the slightest provocation it " ensured" that Salman Rushdie does not enter India for litfest at Jaipur.
Congress is not even sure whether it will be number 3 or number 4 in UP.If it is ready to play communal politics for such a victory, what will it do to retain power in Delhi?
It is strange that Mr Narendra Modi ,one time Hindutva poster boy ,is going out of his way to co opt muslims in Gujarat in to main stream through his Sadbhavana fasts,Congress is pulling the issues back to Hindu muslim divide.
After elections in UP, BJP and other parties should question the Congress party for having taken electoral politics to a new low. They must ensure that the debate returns to Good governance,Reforms,Transparency,Development etc. Congress deserves to be put on mat for its divisive politics.

Lok Pal

At midnight on 29th December, the much debated Lokpal bill was allowed to die an unnatural death in the Rajya Sabha.Congress party is happy that atleast for the time being ,Lokpal is off its chest.BJP is wondering if it has scored one more brawny point over Congress.People are wondering if they have been cheated once again.Team Anna is busy in strategy sessions.Media is looking for the next big story,of 2012.The corrupt are happy that they can get back to their bad old ways.
I feel that the people have not given it up as yet. They have decided to wait and respond in the elections. It will be interesting to analyse state election results on 4th March 2012 in the light of what happened last night.
Term TRILOK appears in Hindu mythology, explaining the three worlds [Heavens,Earth and Underworlds] TRILOK PAL is our God who ensures that his law prevails in all the three worlds. This TRILOK PAL too appears to be fed up with the corrupt ways of our rulers. He is likely to intervene in favour of people.Reason why I have labeled this post as " Trilokpal"
Wait for the redeemer from above.

Relationship with Pakistan

During SAARC summit in Maldives, our PM issued the statement last night [ 10.11..2011], that he wants country to " Open a new chapter with Pakistan" letting bygones be bygones.
This is strange, coming as it does in repsonse to a big "nothing"from Pakistan.Last week there were talks of Pakistan granting us MFN status, which we have done to them in 1996.Then Paki PM went back on this, while Indian MEA establishment and media continued with the " celebrations" that included counting of chickens by way of export earnings and so on.
It appears, Pakistan is least interested in improving her relations with us.It is interested in taking Kashmir from us and then if possible, destabilising us further through acts of terror.
With such a neighbour, why this government is so keen on improving relations?
Only reason , this pow vow can be explained is vote bank politics of Congress party. It is convinced that it can't win elections without the votes of entire muslim community.Congress believes that Indian muslims vote for a a party that seeks good relations with Pakistan. This might have been true in the past.It is no longer so.Even if it is so, a government is supposed to put the national interests first wrt foreign relations.
Congress by trying to be unduly friendly with Pakistan is playing party politics with our foreign policy.

Media musings

Today, Afghan President Karzai is in India. He had wide ranging discussions with our PM,his cabinet colleagues and several officials. In the late evening there was an important joint declaration by both the countries.
In the light of assassination of Burhanuddin Rabbani,US allegations that ISI is hand in glove with Haqqani network, and attacks in Kabul on American embassy few days ago. This visit and discussions have assumed enormous importance.Reason why BBC tonight had debate with K C Singh[ former diplomat] from India and a US based Pakistani diplomat participating. Rabbani was killed after his visit to India a few weeks ago.Still Karzai is here.India is playing an important role in Afghanistan.
Our media has reported this tonight. But alas there were no debates or discussions on this.
People would want to know what Pakistan or Americans think of these agreements we have with Afghans. Yet,all TV channels were screaming about arrest of an IPS officer in Gujarat. All channels had anti Modi crowd, all going hammer and tong against Modi for his dictatorial ways. These debates appeared barren and frivolous in view of so many serious issues that we have, including one stated above.
This is the height of the myopia of our media.

Fighting Terror -II

On 19.7.11,I wrote about the subject after Mumbai blasts of 13.7.11.I am saddened ,that what I stated there is repeated to day after one more blast in a Delhi High court entrance, that has killed 11 and injured 70,till writing of this blog.
I need not repeat, what I have stated on 19.7.11.Except that most of the panelists [in the TV debates] have re re re emphasised the role of the beat constable.Ex.cop.Kiran Bedi stated that there are 1.75 million policemen in the country.Out of these 1.25 million are constables.
One panelist [ Ajay Sahani] stated on CNN-IBN, that NIA was never and will never be a solution. He is a renowned security expert. But I still hold the view that a nation wide indepedent investigating agency for terror is the way forward.Central govt has not done enough on NIA except setting it up.When it is fully staffed, fully equipped and given operational autonomy,it can produce better results than the investigators [ trained in general investigation technics]at state level.
Now the new pattern of such attacks is emerging.Attacks are not spectacular.Attacks can never be linked to outsiders [ ISI has learnt its lessons from Kasab].Larger terror organisations are creating local, autonomous ,self sustaining cells without traces to parent organisations.
Response to such changed tactics needs to be differant. We can not and need not blame outsiders. But we need to act very quickly and effectively against local cells/operatives.How? Read my previous blog of 19.7.11.
One more aspect has emerged in today's blast.Anger/anguish/aversion to VIP visits that I had mentioned on 19.7. Today,Rahul Gandhi was booed by crowds of relatives of the victims at RML hospital. All parties should agree now to stop such visits. They hamper relief. They don't provide any immediate succur. They are no longer liked! Media should also agree that they will not report the absence of politicos as crime. This should put an end to this practice, which appears farcical due to painful regularity with which these attacks are happening. There is very little by way of investigations, prosecution and punishments which can be shown by the ministers.People want them to work on these aspects rather than visit them with their entourage.
Blast has put the central govt in very tricky situation.Digvijay Singh from Congress wrote few days ago in his blog that communalism was more dangerous than corruption. This was to pander to minority votes in upcoming elections in UP.Congress party has also orchastrated TV debates on hanging of Afzal Guru. Now HUJI, a Bangladesh based terror outfit has taken responsibility for this blast and warned that it will organise more such blasts in courts, if Afzal Guru is hanged. What a govt that has been going soft on muslims for their votes will do now?If they hang him, there could be blasts. If they don't there could still be blasts on some other pretext by terror outfits,as they would sense the helplessness of this govt.Besides this, govt will also face "blasts" from the people, for doing nothing!
This is the price you need to pay for ignoring security.Primary function of the state, as I have discussed in my blog on " Governance".If you can't protect us, you can't rule us.

Communal Violence Bill

On 31st August, attended a discussion on above by Shri Sheshadri Chari [ RSS Pracharak since 1978] in Surat.
The draft bill has been prepared by NAC [ National Advisory Council] that advises Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Congress party president and UPA II Chairperson.
Bill seeks to protect the minorities [ identified as GROUP] in the bill from the majority. It has several draconian proviso which can be used against Hindus.Such a bill is non starter in Hindusthan, where 85 % of the population is Hindu.
Congress is really not interested in passing this bill and protecting minorities.
This bill is part of Congress strategy to divert the attention of the people [and electorate] from the main issues. These are,
A. Corruption
B. Price rise, inflation and economic mismanagement
C. Poor governance
Congress expects that people will not vote for Congress if these issues remain in public memory for long. With this Communal Violence Bill , it is throwing the bait at BJP to drag the debate down to communalism versus secularism.BJP should oppose the bill if tabled in Parliament, but it should also state that communalism is not the issue agitating the minds of the people.People are more concerned with issues stated above. Therefore Congress should be forced to restate its priorities. This may result in muslim votes gravitating towards Congress in 2012 elections, especially in UP.BJP should not worry about this.Because, middle classes have already deserted Congress. They will not only vote against Congress but also swing votes of other classes in favour of BJP and allies.
With this bill, Congress is also trying to ensure that BJP does not rope in more allies for NDA.More vociferous BJP gets on this bill, lesser are its chances of strengthening NDA with more allies like AGP,Biju Janata Dal,TDP or even AIADMK.
Congress party is trying to counter opposition onslaught with more and more negatives.Eg trying to implicate BJP men in the murder of an RTI activist in Bhopal, trying to imlicate Narendra Modi in Haren Pandya murder case, implicating former BJP ministers in 2G scam, notices from ED to Baba Ramdev, notices to Arvind Kejrival, privilege motion against Kiran Bedi etc.BJP should be able to highlight this to the people. When you are in the government, you better govern well, rather than find faults with others. That is the job of the opposition.
It is also orchastrating debates on death penalties to Rajiv Killers. So far as laws exist for death penalties, such debates only vitiate the atmosphere.Congress wants that!
BJP and allies should steer the debate back to real issues.
More on this in cominig days, weeks and months. These are very exciting times for students of politics and sociology.

Lokpal in Delhi,Lokayukta in Gujarat

Today at 10am,Anna Hazare broke his 13 day long fast for a strong Lokpal bill to fight corruption. It was on April 11, that government agreed for a joint draft with team Anna. Then govt went back and came out with its own draft which was rejected by team Anna and everyone else.Hence this fast and hence its calling off today.
Now we need to mark this date 28th August 2011 and wait for the day on which the first case of corruption is filed against a politician or a public servant. That will be the proof of the pudding.
On 26th August, Governor of Gujarat unilaterally appointed the Lokayukta [ Mr R A Mehta] in state of Gujarat[ ruled by BJP] to probe the cases of corruption against the govt of Gujarat,.Governor took this decision on the premise that this appointment was kept pending by the state govt since last 7 years.State govt stated that this was due to the games that the Congress party in the opposition was playing all these years.Governor's decision has been challenged by the BJP govt in SC.BJP's state govt in Gujarat, headed by Narendra Modi has been the least corrupt govt in the entire country.Yet a Lokayukta has been unilaterally appointed for policial reasons.Congress party wants to fix Narendra Modi. Why?
Congress does not expect to win Gujarat assembly elections to be held in 2012.It also does not expect to win the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2014 or earlier.Congress party presumes that BJP with its allies will project Narendra Modi as their PM candidate. If that happens Congress and other left liberals entrenched in Delhi since the time of Pt Nehru may find it hard to survive,in Delhi. They have been so dependent on so many favours from the state all these years. So this is the question of their survival.Hence very proactively, they have tried to rein in Narendra Modi with false corruption charges through Lokayukta, who is their own appointee.
This raises the question of appointing the Lok Pal, once the said bill is turned in to a law.If Congress or any other party which is ruling at the center is to behave the way, Congress in Gujarat has behaved, what is the use of such an instituion?
In the case of Lokayukta, there needs to be the consensus between the ruling party and the opposition on a name.Yet, Gujarat Governor has done it in the name of expediency. Can we expect similar " expediency" in cases of Lokpal at the center? For reasons of power politics?
